Bp. 1971. „MAJESTIC FATHERLAND!” The Petition of Pest and Buda to the Parliament of Pozsony on 17 March 1848 by Aladár Urbán (Summary) One of the results of the revolution at Pest on 15 March 1848 was the uncensored printing of the poem called “National Song”, written by Sándor Petőfi, and of the so-called twelve points which, drafted by the radical youth, urged for a radical reforming of the country. The latter were adopted by the assembly of the city of Pest, which, at the same time, elected a body whose duty it would be to maintain public order. This committee intended right in the evening of the revolution to forward the twelve points to the parliament then in session at Pozsony, and then to petition from the ruler the translocation of the diet to Pest. The study describes the preparation of the petition and its contents.
