1486 KERESZTES ANDRÁS documentation related to him and preserved in the Historical Archives of the State Security Services became accessible early in 2014. These documents reveal that Töhötöm Nagy was in connection with the State Security, which wanted to use him as a channel to disinform the Vatican and the Jesuit headquarters at Rome. Based on original documents emanating from both Töhötöm Nagy and others, the author of the present paper aimed to draw attention to the fact that an exclusive reliance on the documentation of the State Security (the period is still closed off for the research in the Vatican Secret Archives) makes it impossible to decide whether Töhötöm Nagy had in fact become a full-hearted agent of the Communist regime, or he (at least partly) wanted to serve by that means the interests of the Church.
