Boulevardul Traian
TheTraian Boulevard The main artery of the city, connecting the central square with the railway station, is divided into two parts: I. C Brătianu Boulevard and Traian Boulevard. The former was constructed in the interwar period to assure direct connection between the old city centre and the Vasile Lucaciu Square, toward the railway station. Continuing I. C. Brătianu Boulevard, situated between Vasile Lucaciu Square and the railway station, the Traian Boulevard was formerly known as Puşcaşului Street during the 19th century. In 1883, the street was renamed Attila, bearing the same name again between 1941 and 1944. In the interwar period and after World War II, the name Traian Road was used. Opposite the Roman Garden there is the building of the orphanage for boys, built by canon Ferenc Irsik and the Roman-Catholic Church of St. Joseph built in 1913. Next to the church there was the factory of the Princzbrothers, opened in 1906.This was the most important industrial establishment in the city until the interwar period. Nowadays the Electrolux factory can be found here. On the other side of the boulevard, the Roman Garden is situated on an area of 750 acres.Traian Boulevard passes by the Garden making a curve, and then it ends in front of the railway station. At the other end of the boulevard, at the crossing point with Vasile Lucaciu Square, the County Museum is situated. It was built to give home to the County Prefecture in 1936, according to the plans of G. P. Liteanu, an architect from Bucharest. At the beginning of the 20th century, there was an electric tram functioning in Satu Mare. Operating only for a few years, the tram started its way from the railway station and passed through the city center, ending at the Steam-Saw station. Within a short time, the electric tram was changed to steammachine, and in 1915 the tram was taken out of service. The tram rails used then as narrow track railways crossedTraian Boulevard in its entire length, heading to its main station from Freedom Square. _________________________BULEVARDUL TRAIAN -TRAIAN SUGÁRÜT-TRAIAN BOULEVARD 128
