The Department of the Psychiatry of the Hospital

In 1833 Bishop János Hám initiated the building of a hospital, managed by the Misericordian Nuns, designed to offer medical services also to the poor people of the city. Outside the hospital, that could receive 60 people, there was a chapel and a pharmacy. Nowadays the building houses the Department of Psychiatry of the County Hospital. Built in Neoclassical style, the building has a basement, a ground floor and an upper floor. The central part of the main faţade with semicircular windows ends at the top in a triangular gable. By the end of World War II, the aspect of the building was dominated by a rectangular tower that penetrated the roof in the center of the building. The tower was later demolished.
