The apron worn over the skirt had to match the kerchief in colors. Originally, the costume decorations were made either with the loom or by hand, the chromatic tones describing the joyful, dynamic, positive character of the women of Oaş: red, yellow, blue, black. The harmony of colors has known periods of explosive chromatics, when there would have been used too strident colors to go with those of the traditional costume. Today, things are different, namely black is mostly used and manual embroidery is replaced by ribbons, cords, hand made and industrial made lace. The traditional man costume had spectacular elements like the hat with feather, the embroidered shirt, their bag decorated by the young girls’ hands and soul, because the bag was a symbol of communion when girls would give it to their future husbands. Some items of the traditional costume took part in a ritual. For example, the kerchief was used by the young lad to the dance, when he wanted to show the community the girl he has chosen.
