Horea
ent center of the village, a medieval settlement is mentioned, called Karul, since the 15th century. At the beginning of the World War II, the settlers of Horea shared the fate of those of Marna Nouă, leaving the village and taking refuge in Romania during the war. The Orthodox Church of the village was built in 1930 and it was dedicated to St. Nicholas. It has one single nave and a polygonal altar. The massive, rectangular tower is and to the nave and it raise with one single level above it. The interior painting was done by V. Pascu and his daughter, Elena Pascu from Focşani, in 1965. A procession cross of painted wood is preserved in the inside, brought by the Moţi colonists from their native lands. The cross preserves an inscription with Cyrillic characters, illegible in the last part, containing the name of the donator and the date 1841-1849.
