The present look of the Orthodox Church “Archangels St. Michael and Gabriel” of Sanislău was given in 1910, through extensive restoration and transformation works initiated and implemented by the parish priest, Alexa Pop. The old village church, located on the same site and dating from 1775, became too small for the large number of believers in Sanislău. The two twin towers, of large size, that dominate the main facade, the triangular gable above the entrance door and the whole structure of the church were inspired by the church at Máriapócs (Hungary), which was at that time one of the most important pilgrimage center of the Greek Catholics in the region. The architect who coordinated the restoration and rebuilding work of the church was Puia Giovanni from Beiuş, originat-Biserica ortodoxă
