Once the revolutionary government proclaimed the abolition of serfdom, the villagers did not wait for the implementation of the decree, according to the official regulations in this regard. Instead of it, they moved to the forced occupation of the noble estates. The movement degenerated into a violent conflict, rapidly crushed, however, by the intervention of the authorities and the ar­resting of the leading peasants. During the late 19th and early 20lh century, Sanislău village became a true regional centre for the national movement of the Satu Mare Ro­manians, being the origin or the place of activity for many cultural personalities of the period, re­nowned even today at national level. At the end of World War II, in 1945, a transitory camp was formed in Sanislău, where the Swabians from the surrounding localities were gathered, before being deported to the labour camps of the Soviet Union. From the village of Sanislău, 188 Romanians and Swabians were transported to the USSR, presumed collectively with war-guilt. Out of them 16 person perished in the labour-camps, far from their native places.
