Archaeological vestiges
Carei-Satu Mare. Two small settlements are known on the both sides of the Post Canal (Baden culture), dating from the end of the Copper Age. The Early Bronze Age (Sanislău culture) and the Middle Bronze Age (Ottoman culture) are represented by the finds at Király-földek, on the left side of the road Căpleni-Cămin. Here is a “tell” type settlement, fortified with a ditch and a wall. This word, which in Arabic means “small hill”, is used to call archaeological sites in the Middle East, where the territory grew in height as a result of intense and long term habitation at the same place. The same situation is found in the area of Király-földek where the long term and intense habitation behind the fortified system led to the raise of the ground-level. The Neolithic as well as the Bronze Age settlements spread until the margins of the two cemeteries (Calvinist and Roman Catholic). Here, the archaeological features, dating from the Bronze Age, have been revealed when the cemetery of the chapel was built. There are two bronze deposits in the area of Căpleni, dating from the late Bronze Age. One of them, mentioned at the beginning, is represented by the small deposit of bracelets, found in 1897. Much larger and richer is the bronze deposit found by Schrádi Ferenc in the winter of 1972, behind the former stables of the Agricultural Cooperative. While digging a draining ditch, he found a lot of weapons grouped at a small depth, as well as tools and bronze ornaments. They consisted of axes, daggers, Situl arheologic Căpleni-Câmpul Raţ Kaplony-Rác mező lelőhely The site Căpleni-Câmpul Raţ Situl arheologic Cäpleni-Kirdly-földek Kaplony-Király-földek lelőhely The site Cápleni-Király-földek 7
