“Past days of the Castle”. Exhibition of historical interiors ♦ Library-room This room is an attempt to recall the atmosphere of a room suited either for scientific or pleasure reading. It was usually a room, without many accessories to distract attention, using likely functional furniture that would suit both types of reading. The Károlyi Castle library shows the family’s intellectual fields of interest as well as their social position, as it was also meant to receive officials or guests with managerial positions. It was equally a room suited for work, too, especially dedicated to the members of the family holding administrative positions and, by the nature of their activity, they spent most of their time in this office. Creating and enriching the library used to be a primary condition of an intellectual in the 19th century, many of them being collectors, reason for which the role of this room, to store books, was essential in every residence of the high society. Historical data with regard to the castle of Carei proved that here used to be a rich library at the end of the 19th century. The restored room is endowed with over 2000 original books of different fields of interest, dating from the 18th - 19th centuries. Objects in the room: 1. Renaissance style library with shelves; 2. Renaissance style sofa; 3. Renaissance style office desk provided with set of lamp and writing tools; 4. Portrait of Alexander Károlyi (1669-1743), reproduction; 5. Portrait of Francis Károlyi (1705-1758), reproduction; 6. Oil painting, with religious scene, first half of the 19th cent. ♦ Entrance hall of the library-room This small sized room has a simple interior, equipped with few furniture, as it had the role of a waiting room. It functioned also to mark the high rank of the owners, when they received guests. The room is also used as an exhibition, as it provides an organic introduction and discreet information about the family history, all integrated in the general atmosphere of the house. Die historische Interieursausstellung ♦ Die Bibliothek Dieser Raum erinnert an das Ambiente eines Bibliotheksraums, der die richtige Umgebung | für eine wissenschaftliche oder entspannende Lektüre bietet. Die Einrichtung des Zimmers ist größtenteils einfach, mit wenig Ablenkung, die verwendeten Möbeln bieten gezielt ein Lesekomfort. Die Bibliothek der Schloss Károlyi weist auf das intellektuelle Interesse der Familie hin, eignet sich aber auch als Statussymbol, da sie auch für den Empfang von offiziellen oder hochrangigen Personen verwendet wurde. Es wurde gleichzeitig als Arbeitszimmer genutzt, insbesondere von Familienmitglieder, die den ganzen Tag am Schreibtisch arbeiteten. Die Einrichtung und Erweiterung einer Bibliothek war charakteristisch für die Elite des 19. Jahrhunderts, von denen viele Büchersammler waren. Daher war es ein unverzichtbarer Bestandteil der Residenzen der oberen Kreise, einen Raum für die Aufbewahrung von Büchern zu schaffen. Historischen Daten zufolge verfügte das Schloss Károlyi auch über einem Bibliothekszimmer und über eine bedeutende Büchersammlung. Der rekonstruierte Bibliotheksraum verfügt über mehr als 2.000 Originalstücke aus dem 18. bis 19. Jahrhundert Möblierung: 1. Regalbibliotheksschrank im Renaissancestil; 2. Sofa im Renaissancestil; 3. Schreibtisch im Renaissancestil mit Lampe und Schreibutensilien; 4. Porträt von Sándor Károlyi (1669-1743), Kopie; 5. Porträt von Ferenc Károlyi (1705-1758), Kopie; 6. Ölgemälde mit religiösem Thema, Anfang 19. Jh. ♦ Der Flur der Bibliothek Die kleine Halle, die als Flur dient, ist mit wenigen Möbeln eingerichtet. Seine Aufgabe ist es, die Räume zu verbinden, aber der Schwerpunkt liegt in seiner Funktion als Wartezimmer, da die Etikette in die oberen sozialen Schichten eine kurze Wartezeit beim Empfang von Besuchern vorschrieb. Der Saal als Ausstellungsraum genutzt präsentiert Informationen und Persönlichkeiten zur Geschichte der Familie auf eine die Natur des Raumes angepasste zurückgehaltene Art und Weise. Einrichtung: 1.
