the city belonged to the Genesis, and later a part of the estate would be owned by the Báthoris. The settlement has an interesting history. A unique fact of the nineteenth century is that all villagers were noblemen and had the right to vote in the comitatense meetings, which gave this settlement, otherwise relatively unimportant, a hard word to say in the decisions of the county. Drastic consequences in the life of the village had the floods of 1888 caused by the river Eriu and the fire in 1904. Monumental size the Reformed Church was built in Gothic style between 1869 and 1885. The Greek- Catholic Church in the village dates, according to the inscription on the tower roof, from 1869. The Roman Catholic chapel was built with financial support of the Roman Catholic parish of Carei, belonging to the subsidiaries. The chapel was consecrated in 2002, and dedicated to St. Ladislas. In Ghenci, there is a monument dedicated to the fallen soldiers during World War II. One of the most popular festivals held annually in Ghenci is the Ball Grape which, in addition to the attraction exerted on the entertainment fans, is a good opportunity to experience traditional culture. HO TO AN The village is located 4 km west of the village center. The first written attestation of the settlement dates from 1213. Since the 15th century, the village belonged to the Hatvani family. Later, the Károlyi family became one of the owners of the settlement. The village is the birth place of the poet and translator Strava Valentin, known because of his work as editor of the magazines Dacia, Curentul literar, Gazeta Literara. He is the most famous translator of Ady's poems in Romanian. Hotoan is the place where the priest Vasile Pătcaşiu carried out his hard-working activity, a leading campaigner for the rights of Romanians of the Satu Mare County. The Orthodox Church dedicated to the St. Archangels Michael and Gabriel was built in 1800 and the Calvinist Church, in the interwar period. By the end of the 20th century Protestant parishioners’ number has decreased, reaching today less than 10. The village is famous for the discovery of two money treasures in its border area which dated from the 16th and 17th centuries. PET RE ŞTI Situated on E671 (DN19) road, 53 km south-west from Satu Mare and 12 km from Carei, Petreşti is situated in the contact zone of Carei Plain and Ier Plain. Petreşti was Ortschaft hat eine interessante Geschichte. Merkwürdigerweise wurde sie im 19. Jh. ausschließlich von Adelsfamilien bewohnt, die bei den Komitatsversammlungen alle Stimmrecht hatten. Die "Stimmen von Ghenci" spielten immer eine entscheidende Rolle bei den auf Komitatsebene getroffenen Entscheidungen. Die Überschwemmung aus dem Jahre 1888, als der Fluss Ier aus seinem Bett austrat und der Brand von 1904 hatten schwere Folgen im Leben des Dorfes. Die monumentale reformierte Kirche wurde zwischen 1869-1885 in neugotischem Stil errichtet. Die griechisch-katholische Kirche stammt laut einer Inschrift auf dem Kirchturm aus dem Jahre 1869. Die römischkatholische Kapelle wurde mit der finanziellen Unterstützung der römisch-katholischen Pfarrei von Großkarol gebaut und gilt als ihre Filia. Sie wurde 2002 zu Ehren des Heiligen Ladislaus eingeweiht. In Ghenci stehen zwei Denkmäler als Erinnerung an die Soldaten, die dem Zweiten Weltkrieg zum Opfer fielen. Eines der beliebtesten volkstümlichen Feste im Dorf ist der jährlich veranstaltete Traubenball, der neben der Unterhaltung auch einen Vorgeschmack von der traditionellen Kultur der Ortschaft anbietet. HOTOAN Die Siedlung wurde 1213 zum ersten Mal urkundlich erwähnt. Ab dem 15. Jh. war die Siedlung für lange Zeit Landgut der Familie Hatvani, später erwarb die Familie Károlyi Teileigentum im Dorf. Der Journalist und Redakteur Valentin Strava, Mitarbeiter der Zeitschriften Dacia, Curentul Literar und Gazeta Literară ist in der Ortschaft Hotoan geboren. Er ist der bekannteste rumänische Übersetzer der Dichtung von Endre Ady. Der Pfarrer Vasile Pătcaşiu, ein Vorkämpfer der Rechte der rumänischen Einwohner des Kreises entfaltete seine Tätigkeit in diesem Dorf. Die zu Ehren der Heiligen Erzengel Michael und Gabriel geweihte orthodoxe Kirche wurde im Jahre 1800 gebaut. Die reformierte Kirche der Siedlung wurde in der Zwischenkriegszeit errichtet. Die Zahl der Gläubigen sank aber drastisch (unter 10) im Laufe des 20. Jahrhunderts. Die Renovierung der Kirche fand 1998 mit der Unterstützung der reformierten Gläubigen aus Santen statt. Erwähnenswert sind auch die zwei Münzfunde aus dem 16-17. Jh., die auf dem Gebiet der Siedlung entdeckt worden sind. PETRI FELD Die Siedlung liegt auf der Verkehrstraße E671 (DN 19), 53 km südwestlich von Sathmar und 12 km von 45
