families of smaller nobility. One of these families, the Darvay built a mansion that has been kept until today. One of its rooms hosts an exhibition in honor of gen­eral Bem who spent a day here in 1848 on his way to Transylvania. The mansion is also home to the villages museum that exhibits tools and traditional household appliances from the area. One of its rooms is decorated as a typical peasant enteriőr of Cărăşeu from the end of the 19th century. The Calvinist church was built in 1798, while the Orthodox church Archangels St Michael and Gabriel dates back to 1895. Corod was first mentioned in 1344 under the name Korogh. The village was never part of any of the areas big domains, being divided among multiple owners. The Orthodox church Archangels St Michael and Ga­briel was built in 1912. The construction of the Cal­vinist church took place between 1904 and 1923, since the First World War interrupted construction works. Lipău was first mentioned as Lipo in 1409. The only church of the village is the Orthodox one, built in 1836, being dedicated to Archangels St Michael and Gabriel. Ilié C. Barbul (1883-1946), lawyer and politician was born here. He was prefect of the county and represen­tative of Satu Mare in the Parliament.
