DELEGAŢI SĂTMĂRENI LA MAREA ADUNAREA NAŢIONALĂ DE LA ALBA IULIA DIN 1 DECEMBRIE 1918 Claudiu PORUMBĂCEAN, Viorel CÂMPEAN Abstract: (Delegates of Satu Mare in Alba Iulia at the Great National Assembly on the 1st of December 1918) The Act of Union of the 1st of December 1918 is undoubtedly the country’s biggest historical moment. In order to understand this grand day of history it is necessary to understand and to acknowledge the events and efforts that have led to a buildup of national movements in the area led by various leaders of this region consequently resulting with the historical events that took place on the 15‘ of December 1918. The integrity of the Romanian national movement of Satu Mare County was in coherence with the directives issued by the Central Romanian National Council, preparing and reaching the culminating point in Alba Iulia, fall of 1918. The formation of local national councils and the local national guards in Satu Mare was based on a socio-political foundation due to the crisis that the war has generated. The hostile sentiment that local authorities had towards the Romanian national movement was always a factor in these movements but the right of auto-determination, freedom and national unity was ever present in the war torn Romanian society of the region. In conformity with the directives of the Central Romanian National Council, on the 3rd of November 1918, the local national councils were established and the local national guards were also founded. In the virtue of these directives on the 12th of November 1918, a meeting is held in Satu Mare by the Romanian National Party Committee comitatens, the session resulted with the formation of the Romanian National Council comitatens Satu Mare having an important role in the regions socio-economic and political administration. At the Great National Assembly in Alba Iulia, 81 delegates with the right to vote (credentials) from Satu Mare have participated at this historical event, voting in favor for the Unification with the Kingdom Of Romania.
