The Late Neolithic settlement of Carei-Kozard Abstract Слт-Kogard is located in Satu Mare county 3,5 km east of Carei, on the right side of the Satu-Mare- Oradea motorway, 300 m south of the Carei-Satu-Mare railway line . The area became known as an archeological site in the eighties as pieces of pottery had been collected by the archeologists, Németi János and Neţa Iercoşan of the Museum of Carei. During archaeological researches between 1990-1999 the archeologists (Németi János, Neţa Iercoşan, loan Stanciu) discovered different archeological settlements and a VI-VII century cemetery. Several archeologic units (pits, buildings) had been excavated, thus revealing Late Neolithic, Copper Age, Alföld Scythian Culture, VI-VII cemetery, XI-XII pottery and the church of Kozard village was located in the highest part of this settlement. The paper presents archaeological finds discovered during rescue archaeological excavations at Carei-Kogard between 1986-88 and other few archeological researches. The finds (potsherds, stone axes, pintanderas, animal bones, obsidians) can be dated in the Late Neolithic; the cultural attribution of the finds is in the Herpály culture. 10
