Kivándorlás Szatmár vármegyéből 187 The emigration from Satu Mare county in USA between 1880 and the First World War (Summary) The issue of emigration was studied only in its general aspects concerning Transylvania. In this work I wanted to elucidate some aspects concerning the causes that generated en mass abandon of the native land. The conclusion is that the phenomena of emigration was determined by inssufficient economical development, by the constant activity of some local agents of foreign navigation companies, by the effects of the money that came from America, by the wish of the inhabitants to ensure a decent life for their families, to get rid of military service and so on. The issue of national oppression was not a reason of leaving the native land.
