194 „The Steam Mill“ company from Satu Mare (Summary) In 1869 the elite of Satu Mare, knowing that the railway will reach the fown decides the setting of an enterprise: „The steam mill company. Is the first enterprise ith industrial feature from Satu Mare, based on eaw resources from the environs of the town. Since 1871 it had the railway, which ensures integration of its productsin the wares circuit. The mill used steampower (150 horse power), supplied by an aggregate (three Cornwall boileres); the capacity was 50.000 - 60.000 quintals/yeae. In 1884 the power, through acquisition of new types of steam boilers. There were installed other installation for cleaning of the flour. The increase of production makes necessary, in 1883, the construction of a railway, in order to connect the mill to the railway system. The capacity multiplied of almost three system. The capacity muliplied of almost three times (66.831 quintals in 1880, 171.506 quintals in 1883). It was installed a new equipment, so the production in 1900 was 239.882 quintals. Through the rise of the mill it have increased the number of employees (in 1880-67, in 1900 - 112 employees). Comparing to 1890 the number of the mills increased and so the number of employees. In 1890 in the town there were working two mills, with 91 employees, in 1900 there were four mills and in 1910 the town had seven mills. The economic crisis 1913 and the first world war vili bring a dificult situation. After a brief rehabilitation (as a result of the war supplies) will continue the agricultural disorganization, because of the shortage of workes. The inflation and other factors will contribute to a decrease of production, ceasing of small enterprises, so „The steam mill“ company works, at the end of world war, only with 10 % capacity.
