Istorie

17 Aspecte ale relaţiilor agrare în zona Cărei 99 lation of the area became Hungarian and from the religious point of view it became catholic. The great landlors of the area were etnically Hungarian, none of them was Romanian. The greatest landlord was Karolyi counts’ family. The peasantry’s duties were hard enough but not so hard as in Transylvania, because Karolyi family was interested in maintaining of German population in the area. Some of the duties to the landlors and to the Austrian state are shown by the documents. In our region didn’t take place any uprising after Fr. Rakoczi’s one, but the relationships between landlords and peasantry were not peacefully because the landlords tried to take the good lands from the peasants in the processus of joining land property. That is why in the area took place many trials between the two sides. We could find here exemples of phenomena met in the transition from feudal to capitalist relationships, but the feudal kind of relationship dominated because the great land property was very powerful. Finally the landlords showed that they couldn’t solve democratically the problem of the land property. Only the establishment of Romania’s administration in the area, in 1919, by the democratical agrarian reform from 1921, made a real justice for the whole peasentry of Romania, without any exception based on ethnical ■origin.
