Scbistidium robustum (Nees et Hornsch.) H. H. Blom (Figs 32, 33) Plants medium-sized to large, forming small or large, typically conspicuously hoary tufts. Central strand distinct, mostly broad. Hair-point ± coarse, mostly long and conspic­uous, (0.2-)0.4-0.8(-l.l) mm, stiff and straight, decurrent, densely and evenly spinulose with sharp, strongly protruding spinulae. Costa and margins smooth. Lamina smooth, unistratose or less frequently with bistratose spots. Lamina cells mostly elongated and be­coming shorter towards apex, (8-)9-10(-l 1) urn wide in upper, 8-11 urn wide in central and lower parts of leaf, sinuose to strongly sinuose with incrassate walls. K+ red.
