Barina, Zoltán: The herbarium of Endre Jeney (1934-2004). I. Pteridophyta

DISCUSSION The Pteridophyta collection of Endre Jeney contains 320 specimens (inch 32 duplicate) altogether. Of these, 215 specimens were collected in Hungary, 51 from Romania (mainly from Transylvania), 11 from Poland, 7 from Italy (the Alps), 3 from Slovakia and 1 from Croatia. Among the notable collections is, according to our present knowledge, the first record of Azolla ftliculoides from Hungary (Tata), which can be attributed to Endre Jeney. Salvinia natans near Neszmély, in the Little Hungarian Plain is known only from his collection. In some cases the last known collection from certain areas are in his herbarium. His data of regional importance were unfortunately left out from a number of floristical works (e.g. VOJTKÓ 2001, RÉV et al. 2006) because his herbarium was practically unknown. With our planned series of reports it is hoped that we can fill the gap.
