Nitella dictyosperma H. et J. Groves Locality (1): Prov. Sindh: Sanghar, on the bank of Nara canal near Bakar lake, 4.9.1998. References to Pakistan: None. General: Nitella dictyosperma is closely related to N. mucronata (A. Braun) Miquel, N. oligospira A. Braun and N. pakistanica Faridi, but separated mainly by Fig. 1. Land forms and distribution of water in Pakistan. The occurrence of charophytes is strongly correlated to these factors. Dal lake in Kashmir is marked. Dal lake has a very rich flora of charophytes. (Drawing by Werner Krause, Germany, 1999). Legends: 1 = high mountains, much wa­ter in lakes and rivers; 2 = foothill area with water in abundance. Good conditions for charophytes; 3 = agriculture land, natural and artificial water courses. Optimal conditions for charophytes; 4 = dry highland with few water courses. Calcareous springs; 5 = desert.
