STUDIA BOTANICA HUNGARICA (Antea: Fragmenta Botanica) XVIII. 1985 p. 5-58 Catalogue of the Hungarian Cenozoic leaf-flora By L. HABLY (Received September 30, 1984) Abstract: The leaf-flora of the Hungarian Cenozoic is summarized from 1856-1984, and the stratigraphy of the localities is revised. Species of each locality, literature, embedding rocks and present place of deposition are given. In recent years there has been a growing interest in catalogues of fossil floras, since many of the collections have not been adequately preserved after the Second World War and this branch of science is rapidly developing. After the Rumanian (GIVULESCU 1974) and Polish (LANCUCKASRODONIOWA, ZASTAWNIAK & GUZIK 1983) catalogues of fossil floras, in this work the leaf-flora of the Hungarian Cenozoic is summarized from 1856 to 1984. Recent advances of geology have enabled me to do a revision of the stratigraphy of the localities and to carry out more accurate dating. During the course of taxonomical research, certain fossils have been placed into different taxa, therefore there are changes in nomenclature. The fossil finds have been reported in numerous geological and botanical journals. Since original publication, many of the collections have been deposited elsewhere because of the war, specialization of the museums and the establishment of new collections. At present there are two palaeobotanical collections in Budapest: in the Botanical Department of the Hungarian Natural History Museum (BP) and the National Geological Institute (MÁFI). Among the provincial museums the collection of the Dobó István Museum in Eger has remained unchanged ever since its establishment by Ferenc Legányi and Gábor Andreánszky, but the collection of the Palóc Museum of Balassagyarmat has moved first to Szécsény then to Pásztó in 1983. New collections have been established at Tata and Szombathely. This paper is not only a summary of the previous data, but also a revision based on the above changes and recent advances in research. The structure of the report is as follows. The localities are listed alphabetically. The species list of each locality is also given in alphabetic order, the literature in chronological order. Finally the embedding rocks and the present place of deposition are given. E OCE NE BAJOT - Búzás-hegy remain: Stenochlaena transdanubica Pálf. (PÁLFALVY 1980). placing: M AFI
