The lowest and highest level are between 300 to 1500 m.s.l. in Gentianella livonica and 120 to 2500 m.s.l. in Gentianella austriaca (Table 1). The G.a . show better adaptation to the various environmental conditions by different morphology variants than G. livon. , Both species prefer the limestone as fundamental rock, but occur in andezité in the Hungarian Central Mountain and in granite in the Carpathian Basin. According to the extending area, the communities in which the two species can be found and the growing period - from late summer to late autumn - (in Central Europe), a cool-continental feature was given for Gentianella austriaca ssp. fatrae and G. livonica.
