GRUNOW' s diagnosis and author' s comparative material gives the limits of length as 12 and 75 p s. Frustules in the sample vary between 9 and 13 p . Perhaps another saline form. ad 18. The specimens found in the sample do not resemble the illustrations available in the li­terature, although most points of the diagnosis can be easily identified. Differing points are: the transapical striae edging the central area are not conspicuously stronger and sparser than the average ones. Density of the striae 12-14/10 p in the middle, and 14­16/10p toward the cell ends. Striae are distinctly lineolate. Outline of central area ir­regular, with "cryptocephala" character.
