A. molnár Ferenc - Oszlánszki Éva Abstract On the Question of the Textual Tradition of the Psalms Translated by Albert Szenci Molnár (Comparing the Original and Today's Hungarian reformed psalter Hymnal texts of the first fifteen Psalms) After a short introduction the article compares the original texts of the first fifteen Psalms as the 1607 "Psalterium Ungaricum of Albert Szenci Molnár with that of the 1948 Psalter Hymnal. By placing the two texts side by side various differences can be seen: the ones resulting from the phonetic development of the language (typed in italics) and the ones resulting from deliberate word or text modifications aiming at better understanding or acceptance (typed in bold). The authors comment some of the differences and modifications at the end of the Psalm in question. They consider some modifications appropriate and justified, while in other cases they either argue for the original translation or suggest a different modification. The article provides only a sample of such a textual comparison. However, its conclusions may be used in the process of compiling the new Reformed Psalter Hymnal. 116 sárospataki Füzetek 2011/4
