THE MESSENGER Newsletter of the Kossuth Club February 2008. Vol. 14. No. 2. Albert Wass Centennial. Hungarian writer Albert Wass (1908-1998) was born one hundred years ago this year in Válaszút and he passed away ten years ago at the age of 90 in Astor, Florida. WWI1 interrupted his promising literary career and he was forced to immigrate to the United States. He was a prolific author even in exile and published novels, poems and short stories in Hungarian almost every year. Until 1990 his works were practically unknown in Hungary because of blacklisting but they are experiencing a revival and many of his works have been published. His literary style is beautiful, descriptive of the physical and natural wonders of his native land in Transylvania. We celebrate the writer and author in his Centennial Year with some of his sons who preserve his literary heritage. New Donations to Brother Csaba’ Mission. The Béla B. Névai and Clara Névai Charitable Foundation has donated $33,000.00 to the Kossuth Club. The donation was earmarked for the St. Francis Foundation and Csaba Böjte’s child protection activities in the Carpathian Basin. We transferred the funds to its destination in early January.
