In October 1956 Hungarians revolted against the Soviet occupation of their country and against Communist rule. Historians regard this event as the first sign of the vulnerability of the Soviet Empire, a vulnerability that eventually led to its collapse. In 2006 people all over the world will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the revolution. We have asked Florida Governor Jeb Bush to proclaim October 23 2006 HUNGARIAN FREEDOM FIGHTER'S DAY in Florida.
