Rezümék (angol, német)

In the 15 l century they bullied and attacked each other's serfs or carried away each other's crops several times. In 1431 they managed to come to an agreement in a case so the seneschal defined the border-lines of their estates. Some calm and peaceful decades followed but due to the offensive action of the powerful Bathori family their relationship became acrimonious again in 1490. The Karolyi family took an action against the Bathori family. Several documents were issued following the case. The texts of three of them are published in the essay in Latin and in Hungarian, as well. All of them can be found in the collection of the Hungarian National Archives. In 1499 the seneschal gave out a warrant investigating the bullying by the Bathori family. A report on the case by the convention of Lelesz was sent to the Palatine in the same year. Another one was sent to the King in 1500. ZSIGMOND MAKRA: The History of the Rohody Family in the 14 th-15 th Centuries Iván Nagy was mistaken when claiming the Rohody family as extinct in his well-known genealogical work. Therefore researchers did not pay much attention to them. The author makes an effort to follow the life of the offspring from the time they were first mentioned until their appearance in the 18 l century using mainly the data of charters. The frequency and the distribution of the data are rather changing so only the period between 1306 and 1452 can be researched more thoroughly. While the Arteus branch went to live in Dogos, Fodor's descendants stayed in Rohod. Peter, who was one of the latter's grandchildren was often mentioned as the king's representative in the legal debates of the noblemen of the area between 1367 and 1402. His nephew, István emerged as the castellan of Rohod in 1444. In 1416 the Vay family made a complaint against the Rohody family because one of their serfs had been beaten up and plundered and a familiar had been beaten up, as well. The Rohody family entered into a debate with the Perényi family because of driving away their flocks. Although the use of Christian names was quite varied in the Rohody family, it sometimes occured that so-called 'dictus' names were used to distinguish between people who were called the same names. These characteristic names often ran in the family.
