ollowing the reorganisation of the Archives of Székesfehérvár Town of County Rank the institute with a great past was inaugurated. The secession from the Archives of Fejér County called for the compilation of a temporary fonds register, later when the new principles were established an independent fonds register was made. Following the Turkish period the authorities of Székesfehérvár were set up, therefore we have comprehensive holdings from this point. The area of collecting of our institute comprises the local government of Székesfehérvár of County Rank and its offices, institutes and companies. The classification that was carried out in the last few years touched upon almost all fonds kept in the archives. The documents were fully examined. The quantity of holdings preserved in the town archives increased from 893 linear metres to almost 2000 linear metres in the past eleven years. The descriptions belonging to the fonds and divisions (history of organs, repertories), and the volume of divisions are not indicated in this fonds register. The objective of publishing the fonds register is to provide detailed information to researchers.
