New opportunities: book + CD; CD-ROM. The first discographies The era of the CD has created new opportunities for the packaging / sales of books, catalogues and bro­chures in CD and CD-ROM format. To date Hungarian music researchers have produced several discographies that provide tremendous assis­tance in research into music history. The new discography series started by the Foundation of Jazz Education and Research aims to process the labels of Hungarian records in the period up to 1958. Ragtime, dixieland and big band Traditional jazz styles are also popular in Hungary and it is no coincidence that the first gold record awarded (LP) was released in this genre. Today bands typically produce and release their own recordings with most of the sales occur­ring at their own concerts.
