THEATRUM 1964 /Extract/ The annual contains the most important papers written by the researchers of the Institute for Theatrical Scien­ces, in 1964. The material falls into three groups. The first feature is titled Theatre and Socie­t y. Dr. György Székely's essay Themes and Heroes in Hunga­rian Dramatic Literature after 195 6 undertakes the topical classification of the ample and varied dramatic crop pro­duced in the last eight years. Dr. Béla Taródi Nagy's article Methodical Problems of the Study of the Audience is discussing the latest results achieved in the field of research on the functioning of the theatre. Dr. Judit Kó­nya, in her article Taste and Cultur e gives account of the observations so far made in the course of a recently begun inquiry on audience taste. Géza Balogh introduces Tadeusz Rozewicz Polish dramatist in his article titled Anti/Theatrical Absurd Theatr e. József Szekeres's article Spectacle and Attraction in the Art of the Circus deals with some theoretical and practical problems of the aesthetics of the circus, so far neglected in Hungary. The second paart /Living Past/ contains articles on the history of the theatre. Dr. György Székely emphasizes the importance of creating organic connaction between the methods of literary and theatrical studies in his article The Latest Problems of the Historical Research of Popular Acting. Dr. Mihály Cenner writes about one of the prominent theatrical figures of the last century, György Telepy, in his article Scene Designs of György Telep y. M.
