BEATRIX SCHÖNAU discusses Some Ideas About the Play Laodameia by Mihály Babits Regarding to the Japanese No-Theatre. She compares the structures of the Hungarian lyrical drama, written in 1910, and the No, finding conspicuous similarities, nevertheless this is not due to any direct influences. The reason for this parallel is rather the Hungarian writer's affinity and sense of form. This play could be staged in a No-theatre, too. Appendix (Documents of Theatre History) On the occasion of the forthcoming 200th anniversary of the professional acting in Hun­garian language inTransylvania (December, 1992), SANDOR ENYEDI publishes some Documents of the first Epoch of Acting in Kolozsvár (now: Cluj-Napoca, Rumania), i. e. letters, notes about the performances from 1808-1820. GÁBOR SZIGETHY has selected letters from the actress Mária Mezei's (1912­1983) legacy. The seven documents were written between 1952 and 1968, and the addres­sees are theatre directors and the Minister of People's Education. They are partly — and we quote the words of the publisher, who is also a theatre historian — "an actress' asking, pleading, passionately demanding or bad-tempered, sad lines", and being so, they are rec­ords of an artist's career. On the other hand, they are documents of the struggles between an Artist and the Bureau from the era of which we would like to be sure that it is over for ever.
