Bevezető
Introduction Introduction ends with the numbers referring to the premieres they put up in the season. In the performance database the premieres can be found in alphabetical order. It is an important change that the open-air performances, just as the performances of Hungarian theatres abroad, are not dealt with separately, in the latter case trying to express that we do think that these performances belong to the core of the Hungarian theatrical art. The precise genre classification of theatre performances tends to bean increasingly difficult task, still we found it important to present opera performances separately, due to the strong genre differentiation of it within the Hungarian theatre system. The strongest line of the Hungarian theatrical tradition is the repertory system linked to one venue and a stable company, this is why in the company list we present again the repertory, that is the performances still on the program. In case of the new premieres we also mention how many times the given performance was played in the season, while concerning the repertoire plays, having all information about former performances at our disposal, the figure after the slash sign indicates how many times the given production was performed in the season. The data was partially collected from the theatres, in the majority of cases they also checked the correctitude of the information. The eventual lacks in the indication of performance number, capacity and ticket price only means that we could not find accurate data on that before deadline. In cases when the authenticity of the data could be argued we decided to set aside their publication. In case of children and dance performances the fact that a performance is a premiere is not always obvious, while the former term "as a guest", often printed next to guest artists' names, is no longer valid because of the ever-increasing mobility within the companies, therefore we decided not to mention these features anywhere in the book. The participants in the actor training programs linked to theatres are named using several different terms: studio students, academy apprentices, university students etc., we did not attempt to use a common term for all these notions. The third chapter of the volume treats the special events of the season, followed by a theatre bibliography listing the specialist books on theatre and the newest plays published during the last calendar year. Several indexes help the orientation throughout the volume. In the name index the number next to the name of the searched artist refers to the item number of the performance database, while the other page numbers where the given artist is mentioned are printed in italics. The index of titles presents titles in Hungarian coupled with the original one, where the numbers again refer to pages. Therefore, we do not consider the present form to be the final one. Your kind suggestions about the modernisation of the yearbook are just as welcome as the all corrections related to the data, in order to improve our electronic database, which, as we mentioned before, will be made accessible soon.
