INSTITUTUL DE MUZICĂ DE LA ŞUMULEU-CIUC (1846-1848)

Rezumat

Scopul prezentei lucrări este evocarea primei epoci a educaţiei muzicale instrumentale din cadrul Gimnaziului Romano-Catolic de la Şumuleu-Ciuc (Csíksomlyó, 1846-1848), şi de a prezenta circumstanţele în care a prins contur ideea unei societăţi studenţeşti cu profil muzical, numită în limbajul epocii Conservatoriu Muzical. Iniţiativa venită din partea vicejudelui regal al Ciucului de Jos, Miklós Endes, a fost îmbrăţişată atât de către oficialităţile şi adunarea generală a Scaunului Ciuc, cât şi de judele suprem regal József Balási, cel care a organizat o amplă colectă pe întregul teritoriu al Scaunului. Graţie donaţiilor obţinute, iniţiatorii au reuşit să achiziţioneze instrumentele muzicale necesare, şi chiar să angajeze un dascăl. Astfel, în toamna anului 1846, Institutul de Muzică de la Şumuleu-Ciuc şi-a deschis porţile. In urma evenimentelor revoluţionare şi a războiului civil din Transilvania anului 1848, clădirea gimnaziului franciscan a fost rechiziţionată de trupe militare, iar învăţământul a fost suspendat. Membrii orchestrei s-au risipit, iar instrumentele au fost distruse, cum, de altfel, şi o bună parte a materialului arhivistic al gimnaziului. Tocmai de aceea, are o importanţă aparte faptul că, în anexa prezentei lucrări, sunt publicate 30 de documente inedite, majoritatea provenind din corespondenţa oficială a funcţionarilor Scaunului, documente care evocă istoricul constituirii primei orchestre studenţeşti de la Şumuleu-Ciuc.

THE MUSIC INSTITUTE OF CSÍKSOMLYÓ (1846-1848)

Abstract

The aim of the current paper is to evoke the first period (1846-1848) of instrumental music education at the Roman Catholic Gymnasium of Csíksomlyó and to shed a light on the circumstances amongst which the students’ society - called Musical Conservatory in the period - was founded. The idea of the course initiated by Miklós Endes, royal vice judge of Alcsik seat was embraced by the leaders of Csík seat. József Balási, royal supreme judge supported the idea and even organized a collection throughout the seat. The gathered money made it possible for the initiators to buy the necessary instruments and to hire a teacher, too. Thus the Music Institute of Csíksomlyó opened its doors in the spring of 1846.

In 1848, due to the events of the revolution and civil war, the building of the Franciscan gymnasium was used by the army and education was suspended, so the members of the orchestra were dispersed, the instruments were destroyed and the biggest part of the school’s archives perished. That is why it is very important, that in order to evoke the history of the first students’ orchestra form Csíksomlyó, in the annex of the current paper we publish thirty documents, mainly from the official correspondence of the seat’s functionaries.
