János Tóth: MAORT Housing Projects

and attitude improving, progress expediting role. As we know, every artisdc/architectural style expresses the fate, lifestyle, as well as material circumstances of a certain society. The most cutting edge oil and gas industry techniques and technology arrived in Hungary through foreign capital, in the form of a company limited by shares, from the middle of the 30s. This was accompanied by the introduction of discerning interior design, lifestyle and attitude, as well as the creation of the required criteria. In contemplation it is completely natural that learning more modern ways of work and a new work style, and performing activities more efficiently on a permanent basis requires blue and white collar workers who are capable of renewal in a new and better environment, who understand the meaning of their work, and are able to enjoy the rewards of their efforts. It is only by comprehending and appreciating the above mentioned things that one can expect our being suitably aware of the time-proportional, period weighted progress of the past 70 years, as well as of the results that have been achieved. Once we can do this, we will be able to appreciate our present, understand and value our past, which will be the key to our better future. Please do not take it as immodesty on my behalf if I mention that I was born at the MAORT housing project in Pusztaszentlászló in 1948 as a closing fact. My father received a company flat at the Upper Development as a MAORT official. Electric lighting, and gas heating were natural things to me even as a child, along with a wash basin, a bathtub and a water closet in the bathroom.
