MŰHELY - Tolnai Gergely: Táguló lehetőségek – egy kiállítás margójára

The small size refuges built usually by the entrances of industrial and communal buildings or in the interior of their halls were formally similar but different in their function. They are greatly endangered presently by pulling down, rebuilding, or the changes of owners. As a result of their small size they can be easily removed or destroyed. The 20 th century military objects not serving direct military purposes but those of defence do not stand in the centre of interest because of their small size and less known function. After the end of cold war and with the spread of a new generation of weapons they have lost their tasks, so it was not much use of their maintenance. With industrial modernization, the disappearing classical industrial centres they are hindering development, so more and more objects cease to exist. Their preservation would be important from the point of monument protection as they show a less known chapter of 20th century architecture. They do not need special care, or take the place of a more important building, but would be interesting parts of the past of Hungarian architecture.
