MŰHELY - Nováky Gyula - Sárközy Sebestyén: Újabb középkori várak a történeti Borsod megye területén

Daten zur Burg sind nicht bekannt, archäologische Funde haben wir noch nicht. Dem Charakter nach wird ein mittelalterlicher Ursprung angenommen. Gyula NOVÁKY-Sebestyén SÁRKÖZY NEWER MEDIEVAL FORTRESSES IN THE TERRITORY OF HISTORICAL BORSOD COUNTY In 1992 a monograph was published on the prehistoric and medieval castles and fortresses of historical Borsod county. Although the work tried to cover all the monuments, still newer remains have been found since then. Two newly excavated castles would be introduced now. Bükkzsérc - Castle of Füzér kef There is only one historical fact concerning the castle. A later version of a document from 1248 mentioned that king Béla IV gave permission to Lampert, bishop of Eger to build a castle on top of a mountain called Füzérkő or Kerekkő. It is not mentioned any more, the date of its demolition is unknown. Its exact place could be identified in the spring of 2000 near the rocky hilltop called Füzérkő even today. The survey took place in the summer of 2001. The castle is in the centre of the former possessions of the archbishops of Eger, on the borderline described in the middle ages, between the villages Cserép (today Cserépfalu) and Zsérc (today Bükkzsérc). In connection with the possession of Cserép several documents are known from the 13—14 th centuries, but the castle is not mentioned in them. It might have been functioning for a short period of time because of its small size and hidden place. The surface of the castle is 24 metres, its widest point is 15 metres. One side of it is the rocky mountain side, the others were defended by a ditch filled in today. On the north-western edge the basement of stone walls laid with plaster can be seen in 3-4 metres long. Kissikátor — Vár hegyese The castle could be identified in 1992, placed deeply among the hills. The hilltop is longitudinal ridge in the north-western direction with steep sides all around. The eastern side is the steepest, so there is no trace of fortress there. The western side is less steep, there 6 meters lower slight traces of an artificial terrace can be observed. Below the narrowing end of the hilltop, on the most easily attacked side strangely enough there is no sign of mound, terrace or ditch. The length of the hilltop - considering the trace of the terrace - is around 130 meters, its widest point is circa 40 meters.
