BENEDICTINE MONASTERIES IN MEDIEVAL HUNGARY Exhibition in the Benedictine Monastery of Pannonhalma, 21 March-1 1 November, 2001. The successful exhibition organised in 1996 on the history of the Benedictine Abbey of Pannonhalma with the title „Möns Sacer" was followedin 2001 by a similar one in the library and exhibition rooms of the Abbey with the tittle „Paradisum plantavit" with a survey of the Benedictine monasteries in medieval Hungary. The reason of organising was the commemoratio of the millenary celebrations both of the country and the foun­dation of the monastery. The show gave a historival survey of art historical and archi­tectural development using the results of archeology as well. The wide range of works on display started with stone fragments, carvings, glasses, bronzes, goldsmiths' works, glazed tiles continuing with documents, plans, winged altars. The material shown came from more than thirty collections and considering the geographical aspects of the sub­ject from all parts of the country, what is more, according to the territory of medieval Hungary even from abroad. Excellent works were lent from Serbia and Croatia, the carvings and castings of the Dombó from Újvidék, the fragments of Rudina unknown even for experts from Pozsega.The brilliant catalogue edited by Imre Takács is a basic source for scientist.
