Der Prunksaal teilte man mit Trennungswänden auf, und die Wände - sie waren mit unversehrten Landschaftsbildern verziert! - wurden weißgestrichen. 1966 ging die einstige Sommerhütte in den Besitz des Museums über, damals wurde sie wiederhergestellt, die Fresken hat man aber weder zu diesem Anlaß noch später, bis auf den heutigen Tag freigelegt. Die vor kurzem ausgeführte Bauforschung stoß an mehreren Punkten auf die Schicht dieser Ausmalung, welche - abgesehen von den Spuren der nach 1945 errichteten Trennungswände und der neulichen Durchnässungen - noch mehrheitlich unversehrt ist. Mónika KÖVESDI MURALS OF THE CEREMONIAL HALL OF THE ESTERHÁZY SUMMER HOUSE IN TATA Tata and its surroundings got to the possession of the Esterházy family in 1727. The family had formed Tata to a centre of their domain, a market town according to their representation. The family residence had been built, like their patron church, and for the development of education they had settled the Piarists. As a result of their patron­age Tata had become a flourishing market town by the end of the century. The last important building activity of the 18 th century was a creation of the creation of the park and erecting the summer house. The investigation of the interior murals has taken place lately in the building to be restored, and the layer of the original decorative painting has been found. The archae­ological survey of the original wall paintings and the condition of the building has begun then. This occasion we would like to draw the attention to the murals if the cer­emonial hall, which are so important, monumental and special as a result of the build­ing's function that their preservation and restoration would be a great asset of art his­tory and monument protection. The summer house was built in 1784 by Ferenc Esterházy, the head of the domains of Tata and Gesztes. At that time the residence by the lake built by Jakab Fellner had already stood. The planning of the territories around the Old Lake and Cseke Lake had begun, together with the forming of the park. An alley was leading from the large cas­tle by the lake-shore to the park of Cseke Lake, in the centre of which the summer house was built. The architect, József Grossmann was the follower of Jakab Fellner in the office of the domain's architect, and this building was the only important work remaining to us. The mass of the building, the projecting set-out of the central ceremonial hall are reflecting the spirit of Baroque, like the form of the terrace with the concave-convex stairs, other details however - the back facade and the rim - show stylistic elements of
