Zusammenfassungen und zweisprachigem Werkverzeichnis einen Artikel über die Geschichte des Wettbewerbs, im Anhang die zu den Plänen gehörenden Baubeschreibungen, die Fachkritik der pester Baumeister und die Artikelfolge von Arnold Ipolyi. Die Ausstellung des Kunstgewerbemuseums machte ebenfalls dem Wettbewerb des eigenen Gebäudes bekannt, und über dies die Ausführung des preisgekrönten Entwurfs von Ödön Lechner und Gyula Pártos unter dem Kennwort „Nach Osten, o Ungar". Außer den kleineren administrativen Dokumenten waren Detailentwürfe, originale Einrichtungstücke und Fotos von dem Vorgang der Ausführung und dem Zustand bei der Eröffnung. Unter den Exponaten ist vielleicht die Schreibgarnitur, welche die Zsolnay-Keramikfabrik zur Einweihungsfeier vor hundert Jahren geschenkt hatte, von höchstem Interesse. Die Ausstellung macht ein anspruchsvolles, schönes Album denkwürdig. Katalin BOROSSAY ARCHITECTURAL HISTORICAL EXHIBITIONS IN BUDAPEST In the autumn of 1996 three exhibitions were organized in Budapest worth the attention of those dealing with 19th century architecture. The oeuvre of Albert Schickedanz, architect (1846-1915) was shown in the building of the Museum of Fine Arts planned by him, organized by Eszter Gábor. The research work was also done by her. The plans for the building of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences were made for a competition 135 years before, in 1861. That exhibition of six days was reorganized with the help of lost and in 1991 rediscovered drawings by Mária Kemény and Jolán Váli Pogány. The Museum of Applied Arts has shown in a centenary exhibition the history of its palace and its plan competition. As a result of the exhibition and the bilingual (English-Hungarian) catalogue Albert Schickedanz - known till now only as the architect of the buildings of the Museum of Fine Arts and the Palace of Artappears as an architect, painter and working in the fields of applied arts, very often successful in his activity. Architectural and fine art works were differentiated by the organizers, and with in these two main groups they were divided thematically, so works followed each other in a loose time order and according to their importance. In the order of the exhibition works have their place according to their quality and weigh. The presentation of the paintings helps us to understand the architectural career of Schickedanz and the influence of the often tragic events of his personal life on his character, and through that on his work. The plan competition of the building of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences was one of the most important social event of Hungary at that age. The question of the Academy was not only interesting because of the suitable use of the sum got by public contributions, but theoretists and architects of the age were fighting in connection with this building, leaders of the Academy were debating in the question of „national"
