TANULMÁNY - Keresztessy Csaba: A Magyarországi Szimbolikus Nagypáholy páholyházának építéstörténete
In 1947 changes were made, when the function of certain parts of the buildings was changed also. The first floor workshop was opened on 15th March, 1948, and in the January or the next year four other workshops, administrative rooms, a diner and a library were ready. Because of changes of political life the reconstruction could not have been finished. In the June of 1950 first Révai had attacked freemasonry, then on 12th June the ÁVO attacked the lodge building and seized it. Following this the house got in the possession of the Ministry of the Interior, and a department of it is still working there. On 15th December, 1994 the building was given back to the Hungarian Symbolic Grand Lodge. The quadratic, three-storeyed building with a small court is Neo-Renaissance in style. It is still possible to restore it, although it was more than once rebuilt. According to our knowledge its most precious part is the painting of the vaulting on the third floor, in the former grand workshop. The painting is blue and red, with mostly blue background, is an ornamental decoration. On the eastern end wall there is the sun with owl decoration, the background is ornamented with lotus pattern. On the vaults there are sun-symbols and Freemason symbols. On the belts floral ornaments are to be seen. Although the exact dating of the painting is not possible presently, it must have been made at the beginning of the century.
