53. Ábel 1890.283. 54. Two names of brickmakers from Buda have survived in documents: December 12, 1507 '...circumspectum Gregorium lateriparem sive tegulatorem in suburbio civitatis Budensis commorantem...' (Archives of the Monastery of Garamszentbenedek, Protocollum A 196) January 4, 1525 '...Gregorium Theglas...' (Archbishopric Archives Esztergom, Protocollum 9.13.15)—the person mentiones is probably identical with the previous one. Around 1505 and 1510: '...Farkas Pagymenthomgyarttho ...in Tassontal...' (Hungarian National Archive, DI 38658 f.13; Bishopric Archives Veszprém Inv. 655. f. 13.) 55. Earlier these tympanums were falsely interpreted as blind windows. A reconstruction shown at the exhibition in BTM is also based on this concept. While studying the original pieces it became clear that there was a groove near the lower edge of the brick there is a groove. This proved that these pieces formed exclusively part of the tracery between the lancets, consequently, they can be considered tympanums with plate tracery, rather than blind windows. A further proof of our point of view is that in spite of the big number of tympanum fragments no window frames of corresponding moulding is known to exist. 56. Kumorovitz 1934. 74-92. 57. MLkat 1982.
