Váczi Mária: A Szórakaténusz Játékmúzeum és Műhely táblás társasjátékainak gyűjteménye (A Szórakaténusz Játékmúzeum és Műhely Gyűjteményei 4. Kecskemét, 2008)

PREFACE P lease forgive me recommending the new volume introducing the collections of the Szórakaténusz Toy Museum and Workshop in a really personal tone. I got my diploma of sociological studies this day eighteen years ago. The research topic (The social message of board games) drawn up then has grown adult' by today. This book is a wonderful birthday present. Why have I chosen the board games? Because it is the only but anyway the most basic game type that we get involved in irrespectively of our age, sex, social status. Our essence is that we are humans acting for economic interest (homo oeconomicus) and amusement (homo ludens) at the same time. In parlour games we can experience both our egos: the responsible adult as well as the child hiding in us forever. Last year I had the opportunity to deal with parlour games and to discover the rich board game collection of the Szórakaténusz Toy Museum and Workshop. The collection that has a lot of rarities has become complete in thirty years. I would like to express my gratitude to all my colleagues for their encouragement and the assistance they gave me with systematizing the games as well as publishing my results in museum-pedagogical booklets. Special thanks to Ágnes Kalmár, dr. Eva Moskovszky, Marianne Kelemen, Anna Ridovics and Edit Haider for their professional and technical advice. Finally I would like to thank the following institutes for their help: National Cultural Basic Programme, The Museum Organisation of Bács-Kiskun County and the Szórakaténusz European Toy Centre Fund. Thanks to my friends for their inspiring confidence and their contribution to this publication by ordering it in advance. Kecskemét, 21st February, 2008. Mária Váczi 6 AJÁNLÁS
