MNM ELTE deposit: L 97/28 The evidence of the Vesuvius' violent eruption in 1906 could still be clearly seen when Cholnoky and his company arrived there. The former crater rim, the Monte Somma surrounded in a semicircle the new and huge Cono Cinere. At the extremely unstable and easily collapsing crater rim the experienced director of the Vesuvius observatory guided the company. 45.
