RÉPÁSI VIKTÓRIA – HAVAS ENIKŐ – DVOŘÁK LIBOR: Annotated checklist and distribution of social wasps (Hymenoptera, Vespidae: Vespinae, Polistinae) in Hungary

Polistes nimpha (Christ, 1791) (Fig. 11.) The most common Polistes species in Hungary (Móczár 1995). It occurs all over the country. Most of the data from Hungary are originated at about 90-400 m (most numerous between 0-200 m) elevation, above 400 m becomes rarer, and data above 500 m are rare. The maximum elevation was 1014 m from Hungary. Relatively common in lower attitudes. (DVORAK & ROBERTS 2006). Lowland subalpine species (CETKOVIC 2002). Occurs both on mountainous and hilly areas, in weed and edge plant associations. The visited plant associations and plant species, as marked on labels: Cirsio-Festucetum pratense, Festuceto-Quercetum, Peucedano-Galatelletum, Querceto petraeae-Carpinetum, Tilia sp. pasture with Populus sp. loess grassland, sandy grassland, sand-wall, fruit orchard, peach tree, marsh, marsh meadow, edge of a canal, Achillea sp. Anchusa sp. Salix sp. Reseda sp. Rubus sp. Umbelliferae sp. Heracleum sp. Cicuta sp. Cichorium sp. Petroselinum sp. Eryngium campestre, Pastinaca sativa, Eupinus polyphyllus, Pimpinella saxifraga, Carduus acanthoides, Medicago sativa, Daucus carota, Cirsium arvense, Sesili annuum, Ononis spinosa, Lotus corniculatus, Lamium purpureum, Peucedanum cerv. Peucedanum arenaria, Conium maculatum, Angelica silvestris, Ballota nigra, Centaurea arenaria, Cynoglossum officinale, Salvia nemorosa, Euphorbia cyparissias, Euphorbia ger.
