RÉPÁSI VIKTÓRIA – HAVAS ENIKŐ – DVOŘÁK LIBOR: Annotated checklist and distribution of social wasps (Hymenoptera, Vespidae: Vespinae, Polistinae) in Hungary

Results and discussion Based on previously published records, the checklist for Hungary presented in this paper includes 20 species of social wasps. Some distributional notes are added. P omissus had been synonymized by GUSENLEITNER (1985), and it is regarded as a physiological form of P. gallicus (MÓCZÁR 1995). Because of this fact, we should delete this species from the list of the Hungarian fauna. Because of the above mentioned position of P. dominulus and P. gallicus, and besides P dominulus is widely distributed in Hungary, while P. gallicus is relatively rare, so the data before 1970 should be revised, or treated with care.
