I accomplished my processing using their collected ant material of the year 1998. Sampling was performed with pitfall traps in three different habitats (dolomite grassland, rock steppe and planted pine forest) of each of three study sites. In the year of 1998 a total of 12.218 ants belonging to 30 species were collected including Myrmica deplanata, which is new for the fauna of the Bakony Mountains. Species richness was relatively equable among the study sites, however, the diversity in the pine forests was significantly higher than in the other sites. The lowest diversity was observed in the rock steppes, where the number of individuals, belonging mostly to one species, Lasius paralienus, far exceeded those of the other habitats. The PCoA ordination and cluster analysis showed also a distinct separation between the pine forests and the two grassland groups, while there was no distinct segregation between rock steppes and dolomite grasslands.
