Historical Inscriptions in Zvonica Abyss in Plesivec Plateu in Slovak Karst Contributed by: Pavol Horváth - Zoltán Jerg During a documentation of representative localities of the World Heritage - Caves of Slovak and Aggteleki Karst, there appeared a need to complete some localities with the newest knowledge and to make out a new map documentation. Thus it was also in case of National nature monument - Zvonica - Jingly-hole abyss (—100,5 m) in Plesivec' plateau. The fact, that in a lateral little hall on the bottom of the cave during mapping there was found an inscription dated to 1882. Following, all more significant ones having been found in the abyss were documented. From among them there were determined names or initials of explorers whose activity is accompanied by quest reports scattered in literature. From among the most known it is necessary to mention Jozef Drenko from Kunova Teplica, who made out the 1

st map of the abyss in 1925. Moreover, there are the signatures of Z. Hadas dated to 1936, also Hungarian speleologists from 1943, spelunkers from Stitnik (1950-51), participants of the Museum of Slovak Karst expedition from 1957 etc. In term of history of Zvonica exploration, the most precious is just the inscription dated to 1882. Its author was Gyula Spissák, the participant of the expedition organized by the head of Plesivec' railway station — Jozef Pachel. Research of historical inscriptions in the abyss of Zvonica cannot be considered as being finished. One of the aims was to find a sign after the 1

st descent to the cave made by E. Fabnik's expedition in 1875 just right in the cave, but we unfortunately failed. It is not known until now as well, who left the date „4. I. 1918" inscription carved into the wall in Kamensky's passage. Results of our research are presented in this contribution.
