history of the construction, the economic and technical troubles of the implementation, the hardships that emerged at the various stages of the erection, and all in all, he presents how we had to (!) create from virtually nothing an oversized, representative monument which was to meet the satisfaction of the triumphant Soviet imperial ambitions. Szabó Bálint: The role of the upper party forums of Somogy County in the Soviet-Yugoslav controversy between 1948 and 1951 At the time of the Soviet-Yugoslav controversy, Hungary, due to her geopolitical location, was one of the front countries of the Cold War. The Hungarian-Yugoslav state border, as a stretch of the frontier of the Peace Camp, was considered a cold front line. The severity of the situation was proved by the frequent incidents, the setting up of the technical lock all along the frontier and the closing-down thereof. In my study I examine the consequences of this controversy in Somogy County in the context of the local supreme forums of the MDP. This analysis of local party history may also shed light on how the imperial politics showed themselves in provinciality meant in the strictest sense of the world. It is well worth paying attention to the activity of two members, Szőnyi Tibor and Nagy Imre, of the national leadership of the party carried out inside the county.
