Szántó László): The struggle of parties for the power and the 1945-1947 elections in Somogy The political struggles from the end of the war till the beginning of 1947 are shown by the first publication of the study which processes the coalitional period of history of politics in Somogy after 1945. The central issue of the political events determining the change of the political system after the war collapse was the struggle between the Independent Smallholders' Party and the Hungarian Communist Party for setting the course of social changes. In the first part of the study, after presenting the characteristics of the parties, the author analyzes the political struggles of the parties at the time of the 1945 parliamentary elections and for the power over the administration and self­governments. As the consequences of the political events of the first period, the Communists in minority were able, as early as this, to prevent the smallholders' party from obtaining the appropriate positions in the county administrational system that would have been in accordance with their parliamentary majority.
