Curators: Passuth Krisztina, Sziics György, Bárki Gergely art historians NEW TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS BUDAPEST Collectors and Treasures Museum of Applied Arts Open from 17 March 2006 Beside the art objects, on display are eight histor­ical tapestries in the central hall of the first floor. You can see here the four so called ‘Medici tap­estries’ from Brussels (?) dated around the 2nd half of the 17th cent. The museum bought it from Mr. Verseghi Nagy Elek, art collector in 1948. The cartoons were planned by Tomasso Vincidor and Giovanni da Udine based on Raffaello's drawings. The most precious piece, entitled the Birth of Je­sus, was bought by Franz Joseph I„ the Habsburg emperor in 1914 from the bishop of Győr. Franz Joseph gave it to the Museum Friends Associa­tion. The tapestry was woven in Brussels around 1520 in Pieter van Aelst's workshop. The history of Cadmos was restored for the ex­hibition Metamorphoses 2. (Workshop of Hans Mattens, Brussels, last quarter of the 16th century). On display are Theseus and Ariadne, Brussels, from the end of the 17th century, which was bought in 1905, and Kephalos and Procris, bought in 1986. The prize is endowed with altogether 4000 euro. Articles for the main prize at a value of 2500 euro and for the promotion and regional prizes at a value of 750 euro are sought. Contributions for the main prize and the regional prize may have been already published in newspapers or magazines. The promotion prizes are assigned exclusively for unpublished texts. The con­tributions must represent new work and have been written between 1.1.05 and 30.6.06.The submitted texts must to be written in German language and not exceed 12 manuscript pages (22 000 characters). The prize aims at German and foreign authors, particularly at archaeolo­gist, students of archaeology or journalists, in­dividual or group. The criteria for the evaluation of the contributions are the topic, scientific reli­ability of the statements, comprehensibility and descriptiveness as well as language and style.
